By Air

Flying to either Geneva or Zurich airports is the most convenient.

Geneva, Zurich, Milan (IT) and Basel airports can all be reached on public transport within three hours from Zermatt.

By Train/Bus

Switzerland is located in the heart of Europe and linked to the continent's high-speed rail network. Travellers by train will find a range of excellent rail connections.

In Geneva and Zurich the train station is in the airport building enabling you to take your baggage cart directly from arrivals to the train.

The Swiss Transfer ticket is the ideal and most cost-effective solution for skiing holidays. It takes you from the airport or border railway station directly to your destination. And back again. And al for a flat rate of CHF 141 per adult in second class and CHF 226 per adult in first class.

From Zurich or Geneva you must take the mainline train toward Brig and hop off in Visp. The train takes you alongside lakes, vineyards and mountains.

In Visp, you should take the mountain train direct to Zermatt (50 minutes).

Zermatt is also the beginning or the end of the world-famous Glacier Express (St. Moritz / Davos - Zermatt).

By Car

A car is not really useful in Zermatt because the village is a car-free resort and all cars must be parked in Täsch (5 km before Zermatt). The road between Täsch and Zermatt is closed to private transport.

Various car parks (2,900 spaces; 2,100 of them in the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch) and uncovered parking spaces (900 spaces) are available to you in Täsch. Some of the multi-storey car parks also have outside parking spaces, and offer a taxi service to and from Zermatt.

The shuttle trains of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway run between Täsch and Zermatt every 20 minutes. You can conveniently and directly transfer to the modern shuttle trains in the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch. The train journey ends 12 minutes later at the Bahnhofplatz in Zermatt – at the heart of the Matterhorn village.

Most distances can be easily covered on foot, but electro-taxis ensure a comfortable transfer to the hotels. Public transport is provided in the form of electro-buses.

Baggage trolleys (like those at airports) are available in the train station that you can conveniently leave at the station afterwards. The deposit is CHF 5.-, and is reimbursed directly at the respective destination.
