Like the Swiss men yesterday in the Giant Slalom, the French men took the top two spots on the podium in the Slalom in Kranjska Gora.
Clement Noel, finished in the first position after his solid two runs. It is his second victory and fourth podium of the season. It is also his eighth Victory in Slalom in the World Cup. Noel finished 0.62 seconds ahead of teammate Victor Muffat-Jeandet, who had his first podium in more than a year. Rounding out the podium was Ramon Zehnhaeusern 0.71 seconds behind. It was Zehnhaeusern’s third straight podium finish.
"The second run was really, really tough, so bumpy! I don't know how, but I managed to ski fast in the second run, so I'm really happy with this performance today (...) I'm more than happy to share the podium with Victor. It's his first podium in slalom, so a great day for us and I'm really happy", Noel said.
Marco Schwarz, who finished in 7h place, grabs the Slalom Crystal Globe. His 625 points sealed the title ahead of Zehnhaeusern, with 503 points.
Austrian skiers have won now the Men's Slalom Crystal Globe a record 16 times (Sweden next on 11 wins). Eight different Austrian skiers have won this globe, also already a record (France next on 6 different winners).
Schwarz finished on the podium in seven of the ten slalom events this World Cup season, including wins in Adelboden and Schladming.
“This is the nicest seventh place of my career,” Schwarz said.
“A world title is something really special but the Slalom Crystal Globe is a reward for your performance in a whole season. And my performance was really, really cool this season”, he added.
Missing a massive opportunity today was Alexis Pinturault, who failed to gain any additional ground over Marco Odermatt in the hunt for the Overall Globe. Pinturault holds a very slim 31-point lead heading into next week’s Season Finals. Pinturault skied over a gate in the second run and DNF, gaining zero points today.
