After finishing sixth yesterday in the Downhill, Federica Brignone wins his second Super-G of the season in Zauchensee. He had previously won the Super-G in St. Moritz on December 12. For Brignone it's her sixth World Cup victory in the discipline. She is the Italian woman with the most World Cup wins (18) in all disciplines.
Brignone mastered the shady Kälberloch racecourse with a risky line.
"I'm very happy, it wasn't that easy today. We've all made a mistake, that's why we're so close. We have a strong speed team, we all come from giant slalom, so the Super-G is ideal because it's a good mix. Every victory is beautiful and emotional”, said Brignone.
The Italians are the absolute dominators of the discipline holding the first three positions of the Super-G standings with Sofia Goggia in first place with 332 points, Federica Brignone in second with 327, and Elena Curtoni in third place with 248.
Corinne Suter finished in second place, missing the top place by a mere 0.04 seconds. It's her second podium of the season, after finishing in third place in the second Downhill held in Lake Louise in December. Until today her best result in the Super-G was sixth place in Val d'Isere.
For the 27-year-old it is the 7th podium finish in Super-G and the 18th World Cup podium.
Ariana Raedler rounded out today's podium in third place +0.17 behind Brignone. She made it onto the podium for the first time in her World Cup career. This season the 26-year-old skier from Vorarlberg finished in 5th place in the first Super-G held in St. Moritz in December.
"I was extremely nervous, my heart was just beating. A big dream comes true. While waiting at the finish, everything came back to me that used to be there, everything I had to go through. Then of course you hope that luck will also be on your side", said Raedler.
