Henrik Kristoffersen claimed today his second World Cup victory of the season in the second Slalom hosted in Chamonix. It was Kristoffersen's 19th World Cup victory in slalom and his 23rd overall.
Only Ingemar Stenmark (40), Alberto Tomba (35) and Marcel Hirscher (32) have won more Slalom races than Kristoffersen.
Kristoffersen made two solid runs today and despite worsening course conditions in the second one, he was able to finish at the top of the podium.
''I could have skied like this yesterday if it wasn't for the straddle at the second gate. I feel really good on this kind of snow. Here the course set doesn't matter when I have the set-up that I had today", Kristoffersen said.
"This year has been really difficult for sure until now. We've been struggling with the set-up on icy snow from the start of January until now. Today I could just ski", Kristoffersen added.
The conditions once again were an advantage to the Swiss, who finished with Ramon Zenhaeursern in second place 0.28 back and Sandro Simonet in third 0.66 off the winning pace. It was Zenhaeursern’s second consecutive second-place finish after he moved up from 11th place into podium range after turning in the second-fastest second run.
Sandro Simonet, who barely made it into the second run finishing in 30th place, made up 27 positions in the second run after setting the best time to finish in third place. It was his first World Cup podium.
