Henrik Kristoffersen wins the first Giant Slalom in Alta Badia. After a great second run, he moved up to the top from 7th place to beat the dominator of the season Marco Odermatt.
It was Kristoffersen's 5th World Cup victory in Giant slalom and his 24th overall. His last win in the specialty was also in Alta Badia in 2019. Kristoffersen is the only Norwegian to have won the Gran Risa Giant Slalom in the World Cup.
“It's a great feeling now! I've tried so much with the material, and when that fits, confidence comes with it. That was also the case with Marcel Hirscher. I thought Sölden and Val d'Isere were steps in the right direction. I made some changes in the skis two days ago, and the second run was amazing. I am very satisfied today", said Kristoffersen.
Marco Odermatt finished in second place, +0.31 seconds behind the Norwegian. He was on the podium in all three Giant Slalom events of the season. He has won the GS races in Sölden and Val d'Isère. For the first time, he is also on the podium on the Gran Risa.
The Swiss finished in the top-five in 14 of his last 15 World Cup appearances in the Giant Slalom, with 11th place in Lenzerheide on 20 March 2021 as the exception.
Austrian Slalom specialist Manuel feller rounded out the podium in third place (+0.37). It's his third podium in Giant Slalom and his 10th in the World Cup. He finished in third place in Val d'Isère last weekend.
