Lara Gut-Behrami continued her amazing speed streak, with her second straight victory in Downhill in Val Di Fassa.
The win makes it seven straight podiums for the Swiss star, with five of those finishes being at the top of the podium. The two victories in Val di Fassa allowed Gut-Behrami to take a solid lead in the World Cup overall standings. She now leads Petra Vlhova by triple digits, with a 107-point led.
It was Gut-Behrami's 32nd World Cup win, moving her second on the all-time list for Swiss women, and closer to the lead in the 2020-2021 Downhill World Cup standings, held by the injured Sofia Goggia.
“It’s nice I can improve from one day to another, (...) I am happy that I could do better what I didn’t do well yesterday”, said Gut-Behrami.
Corinne Suter finished in second place +0.32 seconds behind Gut-Behrami. Suter sits now in second place at the Downhill standings with 410 points only 70 points behind Sofia Goggia with another Downhill to race in the Finals in Lenzerheide.
Third place today went to German Kira Weidle, who continues to surprise and impress in the second half of the season. Weidle, was the silver medalist in Cortina and has taken that momentum back to the World Cup. In fact, all three of today’s podium women also earned a downhill medal in Cortina.
