Sebastian Voss-Solevaag Wins Night Slalom in Madonna di Campiglio

Norwegian Sebastian Voss-Solevaag won the last race of 2021 in Madonna di Campiglio and claim his second career win in the World Cup.

Voss-Solevaag made his World Cup debut in Levi in 2012 and had now five podiums in Slalom to his credit (Zagreb, 2015; St. Moritz, 2016; Madonna di Campiglio, 2020 and 2021; and Flachau, 2021).

Sebastian Foss Solevåg's two previous slalom wins at the world level both came in 2021, in the World Cup in Flachau on 17 January and at the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo on 21 February.

I'm sorry for Noel, he was very quick. But I'm happy that I won. It's a cool race here. I want to keep skiing stable and fast", said Voss-Solevaag.

Overall champion Alexis Pinturault brought home his first podium in slalom this season finishing 0.10 seconds off the winning pace.

I'm a little tired and I can feel that the energy is slowly coming back. It gets better from run to run. Step by step, I take it race after race”, said Pinturault.

Kristoffer Jakobsen finished in third place, +0.11 seconds behind the Norwegian skier. It is his second podium in the World Cup after finishing second in the Opening Slalom in Val d'Isère.

Clément Noël, the winner of the Opening Slalom in Val d'Isère, already seemed to have the second slalom victory of the season in his pocket. After setting the best time in the first run, the Frenchman was a second ahead of Voss-Solevaag in the last section, and then he made a big mistake in front of the last gate and fell, ending up with empty hands.

"I am at a loss. Maybe I thought it was over. But it wasn't over. At least I know that I'm fast on these slopes too. But that's racing. Sometimes it hurts", said Noël.
