The Olympic and defending Downhill World Cup Champion gave another ski masterclass to grab a second victory in the Downhill in Lake Louise.
The Italian finished on the podium in all seven of her Downhill participation in the World Cup. Last season Goggia finished second in the first race in Val d'Isère, before recording four successive wins in Val d'Isère (II), St. Anton, and twice in Crans-Montana. She had to cut her season short in January due to an injury.
Sofia Goggia has won ten Downhills in the World Cup. With six straight Downhill World Cup wins she equals now the streak set by Lindsey Vonn and Picabo Street. She is the 11th woman to achieve 10 or more World Cup victories in this discipline.
The Olympic and defending Downhill World Cup Champion can become the first woman to win the Downhill globe in successive seasons since Vonn (2014-2015 and 2015-2016).
Breezy Johnson claimed again second-place finishing +0.84 seconds off Goggia’s pace.
Johnson added another podium (6) to her list in the World Cup. Last season she finished in the third position 4 times in the Downhill, this season she finished twice in the second place.
Corinne Suter finished in third place, +0.98 seconds behind Goggia. She has claimed 11 World Cup podiums in the Downhill, all in her last 18 appearances in this discipline.
