My Favourite Ski Runs In Tirol I: Direttissima, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

In this new series of posts, I will write about some of the most special pistes I've skied in Tirol during #mywinterintirol.

How have I chosen them? What makes them special? Difficulty is one key factor, but history and beauty are also between the criteria I have under consideration in my selection.

Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is one of the best ski areas in Tirol. Three villages and one ski domain since December 12, 1999, when they joined forces to form the ski area of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and offer a single ski pass for the three ski resorts.

The ski resort of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is a favourite for families.

Perched high above the Upper Inn Valley, in an area known as the Oberes Gericht, the villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis enjoy a fabulous location on a sunny plateau.

The ski area offers 214 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes for every level of skill: 47 blue, 132 red but also 28 kilometers of black slopes mainly located in the Pezid, Lazid and Zwölferkopf mountains.

The Direttissima (number 56 in the piste map) in Fiss is the most popular run in the ski area and offers a good challenge to good skiers. It is located in the Zwölferkopf and to reach it you must take the Almbahn cable car.

When you are at the top of the Direttissima, at 2,596 meters above sea level, you can see all the way down to the village of Fiss. That’s the steepest part of the slope, with a drop of 450 vertical metres (1,5 Km) and a slope gradient of 70% . That, combined with the top-to-bottom view, has an intimidating effect.

The piste ends at the junction to the Kerbboden run No. 60 at approx. 2,150 meters.

So, once you are there don't think too much. The longer you wait, the more you are going to doubt to ski down it. So get started straight away and enjoy it!!!
