Grandvalira is located northeast of the Principality of Andorra, in the parishes of Encamp and Canillo.

In October 2003, the Executive Boards of SAETDE and ENSISA, operating companies of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig (founded in 1956, the year in which Francesc Viladomat installed the first ski lift at the top of Coll Blanc in Pas de la Casa) and Soldeu-El Tarter (founded in 1964), announced an expected merger. The union of the two ski resorts allowed the creation of the largest ski area in the Pyrenees and southern Europe, with 210 kilometers of slopes, a total of 128 tracks of all levels and a unique ski pass for the enjoyment of this ski area.

Since 2011, the resort offers skiers the longest descent in the Pyrenees, a 9.3 km long piste.

More than 60% of its ski area is covered by a modern artificial snowmaking system, which is a guarantee for skiing.
Access to the ski area can be done through 6 different points: Encamp (located at 1300 m, access is done using the Funicamp), Canillo (located at 1500 m, access is done using the gondola lift), El Tarter (1719 m), Soldeu (1800 m), Grau Roig (2120 m) and Pas de la Casa (2100 m).

In recent years, Grandvalira has made a very important economic effort, with more than 100 million euros of investment, aimed at increasing the number of skiable kilometers, in renewing ski lifts (with a capacity of more than 100,000 skiers per hour, what implies the disappearance of the traditional queues in the lifts) and the network of snow cannons, and in providing the station with the most complete network of activities for the enjoyment of après-ski.

Skiers visiting Grandvalira will find, in any of the sectors of the ski resort a wide range of services: ski schools, restaurants (the domain has more than 40 points of restoration), nurseries and snow gardens, etc.
Grandvalira has also devoted its efforts to the organization of international events such as the Women's World Cup in 2012 or the World Cup speed events in 2012 and 2013, which have helped to place the name of the Andorran domain together with the of the big ski resorts. In 2019 Soldeu will be hosting the Finals of the Alpine Skiing World Cup.

Grandvalira-Encamp is the first access to the domain coming from Spain and is located just 5 km from the commercial center of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. The Funicamp, a funicular of 6 km of route, connects in 18 minutes the town of Encamp with the area of Solanelles (the highest point of the station), from where you can enjoy one of the best views of the ski domain.

The Grandvalira-Canillo sector has numerous slopes of little difficulty so it is perfect for families and skiers who are taking their first steps in the snow. In addition, Canillo is an urban nucleus of a calm environment, without agglomerations. Its gondola lift, with a capacity for 8 people, takes skiers to one of the most outstanding natural sites in Andorra: the Forn de Canillo valley.
Grandvalira-El Tarter is the preferred area for lovers of Freestyle practice. El Tarter snowpark is the largest in southern Europe. This sector also has a freeride area: La Encampadana. In El Tarter we can enjoy one of the best après-ski in the bar of l'Abarset, located at the foot of the slopes.

Located in the center of the Grandvalira ski area, In Soldeu we will find the Avet slope, Ski Paradise's favorite and where international alpine skiing events have been held for the World Cup. Soldeu has a varied high-quality hotel offer as well as a good nightlife offer.

Grau Roig is the only sector without a residential nucleus, although it has one of the best hotels in Grandvalira el Grau Roig, and stands out for offering some of the most spectacular landscapes of Grandvalira and Andorra. Grandvalira-Grau Roig offers pistes for all levels and has an extensive range of adventure activities: here you can go on dog sledding, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. In this sector is located a peculiar and exclusive accommodation: the Iglú Hotel, at 2,350 m altitude.

The Pas de la Casa sector is the first access to Grandvalira from France. Due to its altitude and orientation, it has optimal snow conditions and a great variety of slope levels. Pas de la Casa is the favorite sector of those who also seek a varied offer of nightlife.
